Goals & History

1985 the stone staircase leads to the small courtyard of the tavern with Mrs. Mary. Aromas of fish and home cooks pole of attraction for many years.
From then until today, Manos and Chara worthily represent the reputation of their mother, evolving the small tavern into a place that is ranked among the favorite tasty destinations!
The absolute view of the caves of Matala and the journey of flavors through time is a gastronomic experience!

Official opening of Scala
with Mrs. Maria in the kitchen.

1999

Manolis and Chara take over the operation of Scala.

2005

Expansion of the restaurant
and in an adjoining house.

Establishment of the restaurant
in a trademark of the area.

Scala becomes the “must visit”
on the beach of Matala.

2020

The leading French newspaper
Le Figaro suggests the Scala to the French.
